You're renting a safe vehicle from a reputable national company.  But, wait a minute.  Is the vehicle safe?  According to the Detroit News  June 12, 2012 - " 3 Major Rental Car Firms Refuse Pledge to Not Rent or Sell Unrepaired Recalled Vehicles".  Senator Barbara Boxer, D-California, said only one of the four agreed to the pledge.

So "Renter Beware" !                               

Before renting a car, check out the NHTSA (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration) , and the UPSC (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) announcements regarding new Recalls and Alerts.      

Some of the current recalls include:

Airbags  - General Motors - 2013  Chevrolet  Maibu - manufactured October 24, 2011 - March 31, 2012                                                                            

Power Distribution Center -   Chrysler - Dodge 300 and Chargers (2011 & 2012)

Electrical System -  Chrysler 300 (2012)

Head Restraint - BMW 3-series manufactured October 19, 2011 - March 18, 2012
