Are you and your motorcycle ready to ride - Spivey Law Firm, Personal Injury Attorneys, P.A."The weather is beautiful and just right for your motorcycle ride.  Are you and your motorcycle ready to ride?" asks Motorcycle Safety Attorney Randall Spivey of Spivey Law Firm, Personal Injury Attorneys, P.A.

Allstate Insurance recommends motorcyclists Get Ready For Riding Season.  In Florida it is always "riding season". So these recommendations are always useful.

Give your bike a "once over" by:

  • Testing the lights, brakes, and turn signals.
  • Checking the oil and fuel levels.
  • Making sure the mirrors are positioned correctly.
  • Checking the cables to make sure they are not worn or frayed.
  • Lubing the chain and adjusting it according to the manufacturer's specs.
  • Taking a rider-training course to brush up on your skills.

In Share the Road Safely, the U.S. Department of Transportation provides safety tips for:

  • Watch the No-Zones - A vehicle's blind spots, particularly trucks, are dangerous places for motorcyclists.
  • Drive to Survive - Since motorcycles are the smallest vehicles on the roads, the U.S. Department of Transportation reminds motorcyclists to be cautious and pay attention to signals and brake lights of other vehicles.
  • Watch your speed - Motorcycles accelerate faster than other vehicles.  Watching your speed is a very important part of motorcycle riding.

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF)' Quick Tip Sheets are available for download in the MSF Library on their website  MSF .  These Quick Tip Sheets cover such topics as:

  • Pretend You Are Invisible
  • Should You Ride A Motorcycle
  • If Your Ride A Motorcycle
  • "T-CLOCS" Pre-Ride Inspection Checklist
  • Ten Things All Car & Truck Drivers Should Know About Motorcycles
  • Riding With A Passenger
  • Group Riding

"We at Spivey Law Firm, Personal Injury Attorneys, P.A. wish all motorcyclists safe and enjoyable riding," says Attorney Spivey.
