Cape Coral Driver Runs Red Light Causing 4-Car Crash

March 11, 2020 | Category: Automobile Accidents, Florida News Alerts | Share

Cape Coral, FL (March 9, 2020) A Cape Coral woman ran a red light with a child in her vehicle. She caused a four-car crash Monday night at the intersection of Country Club Boulevard and Southeast 9th Avenue.

The Cape Coral Police Department (CCPD) reported the driver was going 60 mph and could not apply the brakes in time. She slammed into one car causing it to flip in the air; then that car landed on another car and slammed into a fourth driver’s bumper. Witnesses said the car looked like it was split in half.

Lauren Garcia who works at Ricon Cubano on the corner of the intersection said, “It gets busy, and some people do speed a little bit around here. They come in the parking lot, and they come in fast! Sometimes we are standing right here, and we are like is it that car going to come in?”

CCPD gave the driver causing the crash a ticket for running a red light.
