Contaminated steroid has caused fungal meningitis resulting in deaths and serious illness. Health facilities in 23 states received the injectable steroid - California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virgina. As many as 13,000 patients could be at risk of infection.
